Brugklas010?

Brugklas010 is a joint initiative of FOKOR (this is the federation of all Rotterdam primary and secondary school boards). The goal? To make the transition from primary to secondary education as smooth and transparent as possible. Together, we want to support students in making a well-informed school choice.

Twelve school fairs

in Rotterdam and surroundings

The Brugklas010 events are an important part of this initiative. From October 2026 to January 2027, we will organize twelve school fairs spread across Rotterdam and the surrounding area, where students, together with their teacher and/or parent(s), can meet all secondary schools from the region.

These fairs replace the many small-scale fairs at primary schools as well as the larger school fairs. In this way, we offer an accessible and neutral introduction to secondary education, without each (primary) school having to organize a separate fair. This saves time and reduces the workload in both primary and secondary education. Brugklas010 is intended for students in groups 7 and 8, their parents, and teachers. By visiting a school fair together, there is room for focused conversations about what suits the student. This makes it easier to determine which open days are worthwhile and ultimately to choose the school that best fits the student.

Interactive parents' evening group 8

Does your school also organize interactive parent evenings? The advice is to schedule an (interactive) parent evening for group 8 only once the dates of the Brugklas010 events in your area are known. The intention is for this parent evening to take place before the event, so that parents can participate well-prepared.

Event preparation

To help students prepare well for a Brugklas010 event, we have developed two preparatory lessons.

The first lesson includes an interests and talents test that students can complete beforehand. This test will reveal one or more interests/talents, which can then be linked to a theme. With these interests connected to certain themes in mind, students can visit secondary schools at the event in a targeted way and gain a clear picture of which schools offer suitable educational programs.

At the event, it will be visually indicated (using colors and symbols) which themes each school offers.

In addition to these lessons, there is an overview poster of the different school profiles. This way, as a teacher, but also as a student or parent, you can get an instant overview of all possible profiles at vmbo, havo, and vwo levels.

Visit event

The visit from the primary schools takes place in the morning, between 09:00 and 14:00. Each school is assigned a time slot of approximately 60 minutes. This time slot will be emailed a few weeks in advance. In this way, we spread out the number of visitors and give each school the space to walk around at their own pace. The exact schedule will be shared about a month prior to the event.

During the event, the students will be welcomed by the Brugklas010 colleagues. Upon arrival, they will receive a bag containing a pen and a map, so they can explore the market in a targeted way and keep track of which secondary school appeals to them the most.

By following the preparatory lessons with the students beforehand, they can visit the stands with a clear purpose and discover which schools best match their talents and interests.

After the event

We hope that after the event, students have been able to orient themselves well regarding the secondary schools in the area.

During all events, there is another opportunity to visit in the evening, this time together with their parents. This way, parents can also view the different schools and ask questions.

At most events, the evening session is open between 18:00 - 20:30 for parents and children.

Time slots per event

To spread out the crowds, we have assigned the registered primary schools to time slots, taking their preferences into account where possible. Some events may be busy. Therefore, please adhere closely to the start and end times so that the program runs smoothly and every student has the opportunity to attend the event.

Questions

Brugklas010 331 low
Frequently asked question 1

Yes, both group 7 and 8 are welcome at the events.

Frequently asked question 3

As soon as this is known, we will inform the registered primary schools by email. So don’t forget to register your class! (This will be announced no later than 1 October 2026)

Frequently asked question 3

Primary schools can choose the event that best suits their needs and possibilities.

Frequently asked question 3

The secondary schools within the KoersVO area are warmly welcome at these events.

Frequently asked question 3

The primary schools located within the KoersVO area are also very welcome at these events. Think of Capelle a/d IJssel, Ridderkerk, Barendrecht, etc.

Frequently asked question 3

At Brugklas010 you will soon also find information about:

  • A toolkit for primary schools with teaching materials and information about the events.
  • A talent test for the student.
  • A preparatory lesson.
Frequently asked question 3

The school fair/events will also have a new format this year. Because students in group 8 often have not yet received a final school recommendation in October/November, we are organizing the events based on talents and interests.

Six ‘tracks’ have been developed, which secondary schools can join. Think of tracks such as creativity, technology, or other areas of interest. In this way, students can discover which schools match their talents and preferences – regardless of the school recommendation they eventually receive.

Frequently asked question 3

Yes, our Brugklas010 colleagues will visit all primary schools and bring promotional material.
